Defender's youngest son has been diagnosed with leukaemia

Wolves have offered their support to Jody Craddock and his family after the defender's youngest son Toby was diagnosed with leukaemia. The two-and-a-half-year-old is suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) and has started a lengthy process of treatment at Birmingham Children's Hospital. ALL is the most common cancer diagnosed in children but, with improvements in diagnosis and treatment, the overall cure rate is more than 80%.

Devastated

Wolves manager Terry Connor said: "Everyone connected with the club will be devastated to hear the news about Toby. "They will want to offer all their love and support to Jody, his wife Shelley and all their three boys. "We are comforted to hear that the programme of treatment will give Toby a very good chance of a full recovery and we know that, at Birmingham Children's Hospital, he is in the best possible hands. "But we are also aware that the diagnosis is the start of a long and difficult battle for young Toby. "As a club we will be there to stand side by side with the Craddock family throughout these difficult times. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Toby and the whole family."
Support
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said: "On behalf of (club chairman) Steve Morgan, the board and everyone at the football club, we would like to echo Terry's words. "We will be there to support Jody and his family every step of the way." The news comes just over a month after it was revealed that Aston Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov had been diagnosed with acute leukaemia. Craddock and his wife have requested that the media respect their privacy while they concentrate on Toby and their family. Craddock is Wolves' longest-serving player, having moved to Molineux from Sunderland in the summer of 2003.
