Holroyd happy to find net

Chris Holroyd has expressed his delight after ending his goalscoring drought at Preston after failing to find the net since his arrival.

The former Rotherham man, who can play as a striker or on either flank, netted his first goal for the Lilywhites in the 1-1 draw against Oldham. The strike ended a run of 18 games without a goal since his arrival from the Millers and Holroyd was particularly thankful to midfield team-mate Danny Mayor for his role in it. "It was a great feeling to score," the 25-year-old ex-Cambridge player said. "Danny Mayor put a brilliant ball across to me. "He's a match-winner and you always know he's going to create one of those moments for you. That's what he's on the field for. "Now we want to put on a good show in the final two games of the season. After a difficult season, to finish in the top half of the table would be a good achievement."
