Freiburg defender Oliver Barth has confirmed he is to leave the club at the end of the season.

Defender disappointed to not earn new contract

Freiburg defender Oliver Barth has confirmed he is to leave the club at the end of the season. The Bundesliga outfit have decided not to offer the 32-year-old, who is currently recovering from a knee injury, a new contract and so he will become a free agent in the summer. Barth joined Freiburg from Fortuna Dusseldorf at the start of the 2007/08 season and helped win promotion to the top flight in 2009 in an enjoyable career with the club. He is therefore disappointed to be leaving, as he told kicker-Sportmagazin: "I am to leave the club this summer. I can confirm this. "Of course, I am disappointed about the decision taken by the club. I have spent a lot of time at this club and I was of the opinion I had won some reputation throughout the years."
