Celtic defender to miss Saints clash this weekend

The Scottish Football Association has rejected an appeal by Celtic defender Cha Du Ri over the red card he received against Rangers. The South Korean was dismissed at Ibrox on Sunday after referee Calum Murray deemed his tug on Lee Wallace to have denied the Gers defender a potential scoring chance. The decision infuriated Celtic boss Neil Lennon who lodged an appeal on Monday. But after a meeting with the governing body's Fast Track Tribunal the orginial decision was upheld and Cha must now sit out Celtic's potential championship clincher against St Johnstone on Sunday. Celtic team-mate Victor Wanyama was also dismissed in the match, which Rangers won 3-2 to deny the visitors the chance of hosting a title party at Ibrox. However, Lennon, who questioned the merits of the Kenyan's red card after the game, decided not to appeal that decision. Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell, who was at Hampden Park on Thursday for the Professional Game Board meeting admitted he was disappointed with the outcome of the appeal. "I was at another meeting and I've just heard," said Lawwell. "Obviously we think it was the wrong decision and we're disappointed." Asked if he believed the player had a fair hearing, he added: "I wasn't there so I don't know. I'm just disappointed."
