Defender returns from lengthy lay-off with ruptured Achilles

Motherwell defender Steven Saunders has returned to action after seven months out with a ruptured Achilles. It has been a long road to recovery since Saunders picked up the problem whilst on Scotland Under 21 duty in August. But he has been making good recent progress and on Tuesday afternoon featured in a 2-2 draw with Livingston at Dalziel Park. He told MFC TV: "It's good to be back playing; I have been training for three weeks but what I really need is bounce games. "There was a bit of nerves, that's understandable for anyone out for seven months with a serious injury, but JP (club physio John Porteous) reassured me and that's good enough for me. "It certainly was some day to come back. Everyone wants to play in the sun, the old summer football argument rumbles on, but it was good for me - it made me sweat."
