Schalke want to sign a new contract with goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand and talks are set to take place in the near future.

Talks to take place over a contract extension

Schalke want to sign a new contract with goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand and talks are set to take place in the near future. The 32-year-old's current deal at Veltins-Arena expires at the end of the season and he was only initially brought to the club last October as a squad player. But injuries to Ralf Fahrmann and Lars Unnerstall mean Hildebrand has been playing on a regular basis and Schalke want to retain his services. Schalke general manager Horst Heldt, who knows the shot-stopper from their time together at former club Stuttgart, told Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper: "Timo Hildebrand is under contract with us until the end of the season. "We will surely sit down and talk about his situation sometime soon. Timo and I have known each other for quite a very long time now. "We will carefully discuss all aspects and this will also include talks about a new contract. As a club, we are able to imagine signing a new deal with Timo Hildebrand."
