Gillingham have confirmed young centre-back Callum Davies has broken his hand.

The 19-year-old suffered the injury in training during a freak collision with a team-mate. The news will come as a blow to Davies as he had recently made two substitute appearances in successive games and was looking to further continue his progression at the Priestfield Stadium. No return date has been set for Davies as he is yet to liaise with the club's medical staff. "Unfortunately, Callum has suffered a freak injury and is out for the time being," Gills manager Andy Hessenthaler told the club's official website. "We can't put a timescale on it yet. He has been to the hospital but hasn't seen our physio team yet."
