Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore is hoping to lure his son Ian Thomas-Moore out of retirement in a bid to aid Rovers' fight to steer clear of the relegation zone.
Moore, who returned to Prenton Park for his third stint at the helm earlier this month following the departure of Les Parry, has seen his side take seven points from his three games at the helm.
That return has lifted them the same margin clear of the on-going scrap in the bottom four with 10 games of the season remaining.
The 35-year-old Thomas-Moore hung up his boots after spending the final few months of last season at Rotherham after leaving Prenton Park for the Don Valley Stadium in January.

But he is now being encouraged to make a return to Birkenhead, although the former Nottingham Forest, Stockport, Burnley and Leeds player has concerns over his physical condition after a few months away from the game.
Rovers boss Moore is refusing to take no for an answer and remains convinced that the veteran forward would be a welcome addition to Tranmere's squad.
Moore told
Wirral News: "I think Ian can still do it at this level. I've asked him and he says he is not fit enough.
"But we could put him on an intense, 10-day fitness course. He would be a great asset if we had him and I am trying to persuade him."
