Stanley show Murdoch the door

Accrington have terminated the contract of goalkeeper Sean Murdoch after a dismal stint at the club since joining in the summer.

The 25-year-old joined Stanley at the start of the season after a successful trial and went on to make 15 appearances. However, he fell down the pecking order after the arrival of loanee Lee Nicholls. Speaking to Accrington's official website, Murdoch said: "I'd like to thank the fans who took me in from the very first game and are some of the best supporters I've ever played in front of. "It's sad the way things have worked out, but that's football and I would like to wish Accrington Stanley all the best for the future." Manager Paul Cook added: "Every player wants to play regular games and hopefully this will allow Sean to find himself a new club before the summer and do just that. We'd all like to thank him for all he's done and he leaves with our best wishes."
