Ajax are set to offer goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer a contract extension which will keep him at Amsterdam ArenA until 2016, according to coach Frank de Boer.
Vermeer, who is out of contract next year, has established himself in the No.1 jersey at Ajax following the departure of Maarten Stekelenburg to Roma last summer.
De Boer has been pleased by the Dutch keeper's progress and wants to reward him with the offer of a new three-year deal.
"We'd like (to carry on) with him," the coach told De Telegraaf.
"We are now gradually working to reward good players with more loyalty and I am very pleased with Kenneth."
Questioned how long the new deal would be, he added: "I think three years."
Vermeer has tough competition between the sticks from youngster Jasper Cillessen, who arrived at Ajax from NEC Nijmegen last summer.
De Boer believes it can only be a good thing for Ajax having two talented keepers competing for the gloves.
"In the past it has often been show that Ajax need two good goalies," he added. "And we have Jasper and Kenneth."
