Morocco midfielder would prefer Spanish switch

Ajax midfielder Ismail Aissati is targeting a move abroad when his contract expires in Amsterdam at the end of the season. The 23-year-old has failed to hold down a spot in the Ajax team since arriving from PSV in 2008 and was sent out on loan to Vitesse last season. Aissati has started three games in all competitions this term, one of which was Thursday night's 2-0 Europa League defeat to Manchester United, and has made just five appearances in total. The Dutch-born Morocco international expects to leave on a free transfer when his deal expires in the summer and is keen on the idea of an overseas move.

Abroad

Aissati told AT5: "It's up to me what I will do next season. "I haven't spoken with anyone of Ajax yet. As it is right now I won't play in Amsterdam next season. "If I will leave here I would like to play in a team who plays football as Ajax does. I think it's time for me to go abroad." The attacking midfielder has been tipped to join a Spanish club and admits it would be his preferred choice. But he says there has been no contact from the Primera Liga, adding: "That's what I hear often and that's my first option. At the moment, however, there is nothing."
