Dagenham assistant manager Terry Harris was not too downbeat following the late defeat at Oxford.
The visitors had recovered after falling behind to Oli Johnson's effort after 51 minutes, with skipper Mark Arber levelling thanks to a powerful 72nd-minute header. But the Us won it with 10 minutes remaining when James Constable buried a low shot between goalkeeper Chris Lewington and his near post. "We got back into it at 1-1 but it looked like we didn't close the gap for Oxford's second goal, though I'll need to have a look at it on the DVD," said Harris. "We have to keep positive. If we keep playing like that we'll move on and be OK. We thought we might nick something. "If you let Oxford pass the ball around, they'll murder you. I thought we kept our shape and they changed their formation a couple of times, which is testimony to how well we were doing our jobs. "Overall, I thought we were solid and looked organised, which was pleasing. But we just left a gap, by the looks of it, for their second goal."
