Simpson preparing for scrap

Gary Simpson conceded his Macclesfield are in a dogfight after going down to a sixth straight defeat at Morecambe.

Danny Carlton scored the only goal of the game early in the second half to earn the Shrimps their first home win since October 29 and leave Simpson ruing his side's luck. "I don't know what we have done but how we haven't got a goal in this game I'll never know," he said. "We did everything but score at the death and nothing seems to be going our way at the minute. "I can't fault the endeavour and how we have tried to play, and if we keep playing like that we will start to get some results again, I'm sure of that. "We are in a dogfight now, there is no doubt about it. We will have to change things and we will have to be prepared for a battle in the next few weeks. "It might not be pretty but we have to get some results and I know we have the players to do that. We hope to have a few players back in the next few weeks and that will make us stronger."
