Defender could be missing for up to four weeks

Ipswich defender Ibrahima Sonko is facing up to between two and four weeks on the sidelines after dislocating a rib. The Senegalese centre-half picked up the knock during Saturday's abandoned game with Middlesbrough at Portman Road. It was clear on the day that Sonko was going to be struggling to be involved in Town's next fixture, and scans have revealed the full extent of the injury. The 31-year-old will play no part in a meeting with Portsmouth on Tuesday and could be missing until the middle of March if the problem proves to be difficult to shift.

Discomfort

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell is disappointed to have lost the services of his stand-in skipper, but admits the club need to move on and look to others to plug the gaps. "Sonks has dislocated his rib and the prognosis is that he will be out for between two and four weeks," he told the club's official website. "He was in a lot of discomfort after the game and his ribs are feeling very sore. "It's a blow to lose him and it's a blow to the player, as he wants to play, but we have to move on now."
