Roberts thrilled to bag point

Caretaker boss Mark Roberts made it four points from two away games in charge as Stevenage earned a 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe.

Substitute Darius Charles snatched an 84th-minute equaliser for the visitors who have now lost only once in the last 13 games. It came as Scunthorpe looked to be heading for their first home win since late October after taking the lead with a strike from Garry Thompson early in the second half. "We came here and changed our formation to 4-3-3 to try and nullify Scunthorpe, who I think are a good team," said skipper Roberts, who was put in caretaker charge following manager Graham Westley's departure to Preston. "The wind made conditions difficult but maybe we did allow ourselves to be pushed back a bit too much in the first half," he confessed. "It was disappointing then to concede a goal right at the start of the second half, but I was delighted with the character we showed to get back into the game. We didn't come here just for a point but I am pleased to be going home with one which takes us another step to where we hope to be."
