Shots suffer double injury blow

Aldershot have suffered a double blow with the news Michael Rankine and Alex Rodman are unlikely to play again this season.

Striker Rankine was last week ruled out of action initially for around a month with a ligament problem in his leg, an injury sustained in the 1-0 loss at Gillingham on January 2. But the complaint is worse than first feared and the summer signing, who has scored five goals in 30 appearances, remains on crutches. Midfielder Rodman, meanwhile, has also been sidelined for the last two games with a viral infection which has required medical tests, and the 24-year-old now appears likely to be missing until the summer. The news has increased manager Dean Holdsworth's need to bolster his ranks, with the Shots boss keen to do so before Saturday's visit of Accrington.
