Cameroon keeper ends eight-year association with Espanyol

Cameroon international Carlos Kameni has linked up with Malaga after being released from his contract with Espanyol. The 27-year-old goalkeeper parted company with Espanyol last week, bringing to an end an eight-year stint in Catalunya. A decision was taken to part with his services after Kameni slipped to third-choice in the pecking order. He had been a regular throughout his time with Espanyol, making well over 200 appearances for the club, but fell out of favour at the start of the current campaign. He is now set to embark on a new challenge and has penned a two-and-a-half-year contract with Malaga. "The former RCD Espanyol goalkeeper, born 27 years ago in Douala (Cameroon), will arrive in Malaga on Wednesday and will join Malaga Club de Futbol for the rest of this season and then for the coming two years, with the possibility of extending the contract at the end of that period," read a statement released on the club's official website. Big-spending Malaga have also confirmed that first-choice shot-stopper Willy Caballero has agreed an extension to his contract, taking him through to the end of the 2015/16 season.
