Posh teenager turns to the old pros for advice on his game

Peterborough starlet Joe Newell has declared his delight at signing a new long-term deal with the Championship outfit. The 18-year-old midfielder's development has impressed boss Darren Ferguson and he has been rewarded with a four-and-a-half-year contract. Newell has progressed through the ranks at the club and his ascent to the senior squad is proof their coaching system is working. "I found out about it last week and had no hesitation about signing," he told the club's official website. "I'm delighted, it gives me a bit of security, but I also know that I have to continue to work hard in training." He added: "The manager has shown a lot of faith in me and that is fantastic, I just want to repay that faith now. The senior lads in the squad have really helped my game. "I speak to Tommy Rowe, Grant McCann and George Boyd all of the time about my game and they have given me great advice, as I adapt to the new position. "I'm really enjoying my football at the moment, particularly the way we play."
