Rankine injury blow for Shots

Aldershot striker Michael Rankine has been ruled out for around a month with a leg injury.

Rankine, who missed Saturday's 3-0 home defeat by Oxford, sustained the ligament problem in the 1-0 loss at Gillingham on January 2 and was duly forced off at half-time. Manager Dean Holdsworth told Shots' official website: "Michael has a serious ligament injury in his leg and he will be out for up to a month and possibly more. That is not good news for us because we need a target man. "In addition, Alex Rodman has a viral infection plus a groin injury so he is unlikely for the weekend too. We will have to manage this. "I am still working hard to bring more personnel in. There have been a lot of phone calls and work behind the scenes. It has to be the right personnel for us. They have got to be good players to come into the football club and we have got to be able to afford them." Meanwhile, Bradley Bubb has completed a loan move to non-league Eastleigh until the end of the season. The striker, who has recently returned from a spell at Blue Square Bet South rivals Basingstoke, has found first-team opportunities hard to come by since his summer arrival at the Recreation Ground.
