Gillingham hope Lewis Montrose will be fit for Saturday's trip to Shrewsbury after suffering a suspected broken bone in his hand.
The midfielder sustained the injury in training and is set to have an X-ray to determine the extent of the problem, although it is hoped it will not prevent him from taking part at the Greenhouse Meadow.
Gills are already likely to be without leading scorer Danny Kedwell after it was confirmed he broke a rib in Saturday's FA Cup defeat to Stoke.
Kedwell faces an uphill battle to be given the green light to face Shrews, although he will be given every chance of making a swift recovery and the striker himself is desperate to get back to action as soon as possible.
"It's one of those injuries where you have to wait and see when the pain goes and you feel like you can train again," Kedwell told Gillingham's official website.
"There's nothing you can do except take painkillers and hopefully I feel okay before Saturday's game. I just want to play as much as I can and score as many as possible so something like this is a bit gutting."
