Boss pleased with Hunt return

Manager Martin Allen is pleased to see long-term injury victim Stephen Hunt back around the rest of the Notts County squad.

The 27-year-old defender had an operation in an attempt to repair the problem at the end of last season but it was unsuccessful and he had to go undergo surgery again because of an infection. Hunt is on the road to recovery and is doing some training with the rest of his team-mates. He is targeting a comeback in January, but Allen remains more cautious. "He's much, much closer (to a return) because he's actually been to our training ground. We gave him the directions and I introduced him to everybody," Allen joked. "Seriously though, he loved it. He stood with me and, believe it or not, was ball boy, going off to fetch the balls. "I hope it was a massive boost for him because it was for all of us and I'm hoping it will speed up his recovery. He's moved on but let's not get carried away because he's nowhere near kicking a ball. It's good for him to be there with us and it will be monumental when he gets back and starts doing the warm-up."
