Defender waiting to learn when he will undergo knee surgery

Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender Chris Hogg has expressed his disappointment after confirmation he will miss the rest of the season. Hogg suffered cruciate ligament damage, among other problems, during Inverness' 3-2 defeat by Dundee United last Saturday and he now faces a lengthy period of rehabilitation. The former Hibernian captain, who suffered the injury during a collision with United midfielder Gary Mackay-Steven, is now waiting to learn when he will undergo surgery. "It's not great news on the medical front," Hogg told the club's official website.

Galling

"I've never had a serious injury before and this one isn't very nice at all and it's really galling to write off the rest of the season. "I am just waiting to find out when I can have an operation so that I can get on with my comeback. "I knew right away that it was a bad one. But I just have to get on with it. "I'm a strong character and I'm being helped by the backing of the club doctor and physios and by Terry Butcher and Maurice Malpas, who have been tremendously supportive. "The manager is one of the nicest guys I've met in football and he's been superb." Manager Butcher added: "It is one of the worst knee injuries I've ever seen and Chris will require major surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation. "It's really disappointing for the lad and he'll get our full support and the best care. "There are good examples of players coming back from cruciate surgery to do well and that will give Chris something to take heart from."
