Notts County manager Martin Allen is pleased to see that Sam Sodje has turned around his football career at Meadow Lane.

Sodje looked certain to leave the club before the start of this season when Allen put him up for sale in July. The 31-year-old defender is still on the transfer list but has played seven league games and scored three goals - in wins against Rochdale and Chesterfield and a defeat to Colchester. Allen revealed Sodje does not train all of the time because of a long-standing knee problem, but he believes the former Nigeria international adds invaluable versatility and aerial threat to the Notts team. "At one time it was like 'pass me the Nurofen', but now in both boxes he is a danger. He really has picked up his levels, got his head down and worked hard and is a joy to watch," Allen told the Nottingham Post. "He can play up front and at the back. He helps defend it, helps win it and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to see he is good in the air in both boxes and that is priceless. "He does not train all the time but in the sessions he did come back and join us, fair play to him, he has done well. He wanted to be part of the group and is settling back in and bless him, he has done great."
