Young defender 'definitely an option' for AZ game

Teenage right-back Ruben Ligeon could make his Ajax debut at the weekend in place of suspended defender Gregory van der Wiel. Regular right-back Van der Wiel will not feature for the Eredivisie champions when they host AZ Alkmaar on Sunday after picking up a red card last time out against Groningen. Ligeon featured for Ajax in Sunday's friendly win over FC Volendam and assistant coach Hennie Spijkerman says he could make an appearance this weekend. "Ruben will train this week and is definitely an option for the game against AZ," Spijkerman told AD.

Did well

"He did well (against Volendam) but still showed an attacker through. This must not happen, but he will learn from such mistakes." Ligeon, a youth product at Ajax, was named as a substitute against Heracles Almelo last season but did not get to play. The 19-year-old admits featuring at the Amsterdam Arena would fulfil a boyhood dream. "I've been playing at Ajax for 11 years and you dream of one thing - playing in the first-team," he said. "Last year I made the bench against Heracles, that was beautiful. Now I hope that I can sit there again, still in the Arena but this time against AZ, and maybe I can play."
