South Korea international joins former boss Fernandez
Nancy have confirmed the loan signing of Jung Jo-gook from Ligue 1 rivals Auxerre for the rest of the season.
Both clubs have agreed not to disclose details of the deal, but the 27 year-old will be Nancy's 'joker', the term given to the single loan signing that French clubs are allowed to make outside the designated transfer window.
Nancy manager Jean Fernandez is a big admirer of the South Korea international having previously brought him to France last January during his previous stint as Auxerre boss.
Although Fernandez would have preferred a higher-profile signing, he believes the club has made the right move with their limited resources.
Not an indulgence
"Given our offensive difficulties, the signing of Jung Jo-Gook is not an indulgence," Fernandez told
Eurosport.
"The fans surely would prefer that we sign a great player and I too, but it's impossible financially.
"We are doing all we can, taking into account the urgency of the situation.
"Jo, as we called him at Auxerre, is a true striker who knows how to be opportunistic and has an excellent work ethic."
