Werder Bremen striker Denni Avdic has undergone successful hip surgery and has started his rehabilitation.
Werder Bremen striker Denni Avdic has undergone successful hip surgery and has already started his rehabilitation programme.
The Sweden international has yet to play for Bremen this season after sustaining the injury in pre-season.
Avdice, a signing from IF Elfsborg in January, underwent several fitness assessments and it was decided an operation would be the best course of action.
He told Bremen's official website: "The surgery has been completed. I have come through it well.
"I have already been allowed to do sessions of weight training and will therefore continue my rehabilitation training."
Bremen boss Thomas Schaaf now hopes the 23-year-old, who is under contract until the summer of 2014, will make a quick recovery, but he will not be rushed.
Schaaf said: "Unfortunately this injury will not take a matter of weeks. Denni Avdic will get every chance to have very good rehabilitation training.
"We wish a swift recovery, however, he has all the time to come back."
