Striker ready for next stage of his career in Australia
Billy Mehmet has admitted he again shunned a return to British football to move to Australia.
The former West Ham and St Mirren striker was a free agent after returning from Turkey, following stints with Genclerbirligi and Samsunspor.
He trained with Notts Country, and had interest from SPL and Championship clubs.
But the 27-year-old decided instead to continue to his career Down Under and signed for Perth Glory.
Options
"I had options back home, that is true," he told
skysports.com.
"But as I proved when I moved to Turkey, I am not frightened to look elsewhere and I was always aware of other things on the table.
"There was not just Australia, but the offer from Perth was a huge appeal to me, and I am delighted to be here.
"I am not saying I will never return, but I am confident if I do well with Perth then what happens next will take care of itself."
