Kaiserslautern prepare to part ways with Croatian

Croatian attacking midfielder Ivo Ilicevic is on the brink of joining Hamburg from Kaiserslautern, according to general manager Stefan Kuntz. Reports in Germany suggest the two clubs have agreed a £3.5million fee for the 24-year-old, whose Kaiserslautern contract expires next summer. Hamburg are on the hunt for a replacement for Dutch international winger Eljero Elia, who left the Imtech Arena for Juventus earlier on deadline day. Kaiserslautern chief Kuntz told BILD: "Ivo Ilicevic wanted a move to Bayern Munich in January. Back then we refused to allow him a transfer. "Since then, Ivo is keen to leave our club. Now he is free to have the requested transfer." He added: "We could also still make a transfer, but we need to sort this out. There's no use rushing." Ilicevic is suspended for the next four Bundesliga matches after receiving a red card at home to Bayern Munich on Saturday.
