Palermo have confirmed Fiorentina are in talks with the club for defender Cesare Bovo's services.
The 28-year-old has been linked with the Viola for some time and now the Florence club have firmed up their interest.
Fiorentina have made contact with the Rosanero and transfer talks over the stopper are at an 'advanced stage'.
Palermo could be willing to part company with the defender having recently landed Catania's Matias Silvestre.
"We know of the interest from Fiorentina," the club's vice-president Guglielmo Micciche told Viola News.
"This time it is not just newspaper speculation, their interest is concrete.
"Viola sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has told us that he wants the player and we are now evaluating things.
"Talks are at an advanced stage."
