Canada international Rob Friend has vowed to fight for a role in the first team of promoted Hertha Berlin and does not want a transfer.
The striker was not a regular in the German second division last season, but has no plans to quit Olympiastadion.
Friend is under contract with Hertha until the summer of 2012 and remains committed to forcing a way into manager Markus Babbel's plans.
He told Berliner Zeitung newspaper: "I am under contract at Hertha and I will not give up.
"Things can only improve for me in the new season, that is for sure. After the last season it is out of the question for me to seek a transfer.
"I am not going to run away from here. I am starting to fight for a role in the first team. I am eager to impress the people and show them I am better."
