Dutch striker snubs Blues move for MLS side

Birmingham have missed out on signing Danny Koevermans after the striker departed PSV Eindhoven for Major League Soccer side Toronto FC. The 32-year-old, whose PSV deal expired this summer, had been heavily linked with a move to St Andrew's after stating his desire for a foreign adventure. However, the departure of manager Alex McLeish was understood to have given Koevermans second thoughts over the English switch. And the Dutchman, capped four times for Holland, has now penned a two-year deal with Toronto. He told Sportpromotion: "I am very happy with this transfer. It was really great how the club welcomed me. "I hope I can have a major contribution to the club this season." The move marks Koevermans' first stint with a foreign club having previously spent time at Sparta Rotterdam and AZ Alkmaar before joining PSV in 2007. Dutchman and former Ajax, Lazio and Inter Milan midfielder Aron Winter is technical director at the Canadian club.
