Winger enjoyed loan spell at Whaddon Road last season

Jake Thomson has revealed his preference is to join Cheltenham Town following his departure from Exeter City. The winger was released by Exeter at the end of last season and has attracted interest from several League One clubs. However, the 22-year-old undertook a loan spell with Cheltenham last term and enjoyed his time with the League Two club. Though Thomson feels he was not fully fit during his five appearances for the Robins, he is hoping he can secure a deal with Mark Yates' side. "I have not spoken to Mark Yates myself, but he has been in contact with my agent and Cheltenham would be my preferred move," Thomson told the Gloucestershire Echo. "When I was on loan there, I enjoyed working with the gaffer, but I was only about 80 per cent fit, if that. "I was not able to play how I normally play and it was disappointing because the player the Cheltenham fans saw was not really me."
