Blues target two strikers with a whole host of players set to leave

Birmingham City are reportedly keen on signing Danny Koevermans, with his deal set to expire at PSV Eindhoven. The 32-year-old Dutch International has fallen out of favour with his club after struggling to command any significant game time. Koevermans played just 14 league games last season under head coach Fred Rutten. Now the former Sparta and AZ player is reportedly said to be looking for a club outside of Holland to reignite his career and the attacker could be set for a move to England. Birmingham are believed to be keen and the Championship club have also been linked with France Under-21 star Bengali-Fode Koita. The striker only has one year remaining on his contract at Montpellier but having suffered an ankle injury and a torn hamstring in the past year, Koita is understood to be looking for a fresh start. The player told website Foot Mercato: "I have reached an age where I need to play a whole season which is very important. "We should not waste too much time and I'll think about my future in relation to that." Birmingham are keen to reduce their wage bill following relegation from the top flight. And having already released Kevin Phillips from his deal, the club are also set to let top earners Nikola Zigic and Cameron Jerome leave this summer. City's £3million January signing, Michel, is also set to move on after failing to settle in at St Andrews. The former Sporting Gijon playmaker is understood to be interested in a move to Real Betis, who are keen on his signature.
