Gillingham midfielder Kevin Maher insists contract terms need to be right if he is to stay at Priestfield.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international played 36 league games for the Gills this season and believes his good form will continue if he signs a new contract, which he hopes to do.

The 34-year-old told the Kent Messenger: "My agent is speaking to the chairman at the moment to see what we can do. I'm in no rush. I would like to stay and hopefully I can do so.

"Fingers crossed, because I would be delighted to be at Gillingham again. If it is right I am happy to sign.

"I don't like moving about too much.

"You probably find your best form when you stay at the club and get to know everyone and the place around you."
