Poyet wants Taricco to play

Brighton manager Gus Poyet hopes to get another season on the pitch out of assistant boss Mauricio Taricco.

The 38-year-old defender played his first competitive match in nearly six years against Woking in the FA Cup last November. Taricco went on to make a further six appearances as the Seagulls roared to the League One title, and Poyet feels he could have a role to play in the Championship. "He's got the quality, the understanding, the experience, and the age, so it will be a decision for him," said Poyet. "We played him in the FA Cup to gain match fitness and I think everybody would like him to play, apart from the full-backs obviously. "But he knows that if we are okay and we have the players, he would probably like to relax and coach the team."
