Fitzsimons gets another chance

Danny Fitzsimons has been invited to return to Yeovil for pre-season training in a bid to earn a professional contract.

The former QPR defender joined the Glovers in February and impressed in Somerset Premier Cup games against Clevedon Town and Weston-super-Mare. Yeovil announced last week they would not be offering new deals to strikers Martin Gritton, Sam Williams and Craig Calver or defender Stefan Stam. However, Fitzsimons - who played six games for Blue Square Bet Premier outfit Histon before Christmas - has the option to train with the Glovers. "I want to have a look at him again. We have given him a programme to go away with and he has got some really good attributes," boss Terry Skiverton told the Somerset Guardian. "I think he was one of the positives to come out of the Weston-super-Mare game, he attacked the ball well and he has some good qualities. "But he needs to work on his turning and his pace and if he does improve over the summer, showing me he wants it, then he will be given a chance."
