Cheyrou committed to l'OM

Midfielder vows to stay, but Mbia admits his season is over

Benoit Cheyrou has stated his intention to remain at Marseille despite limited action this season.

The midfielder has struggled to hold down a regular place in Didier Deschamps' starting XI, but remains an important part of the set-up at Stade Velodrome.

With the club reluctant to sell, and with two years still left to run on his current contract, Cheyrou insists he has no issue with sticking around for the foreseeable future and fighting for his place.

"My future is at Marseille," he told RMC.

"At the end of the season I will still have two years remaining on my contract.

"Each year I like to speak with the coach and the club officials and find out what the targets are for the next season."

Medics

Meanwhile, Marseille look set to be without the services of key defender Stephane Mbia for the remainder of the season.

The Cameroon international is nursing a groin injury and admits the problem is likely to keep him sidelined until the summer.

He told L'Equipe: "Seeing the MRI scan, I believe I was right to halt my season.

"I am working with the medics every day but I think my season has come to an end."
