Defender feels squad have enough quality to avoid relegation

Andrew Wright remains optimistic that Scunthorpe United can preserve their place in the Championship at the end of the season. The Iron are currently five points adrift of safety and are without a permanent manager after parting company with Ian Baraclough earlier this month. However, Scunthorpe have eight games left to secure their survival, and Wright is feeling upbeat about the team's prospects. Wright said: "A lot of people are suggesting we are punching above our weight but if you look around the changing room I think we've got a good enough squad to be in this league. "We can certainly survive this season. I do think there is a realistic chance of staying up. "While there are still points to play for you can't rule anything out - stranger things have happened."
