Martin Demichelis admits he would be keen to rejoin Bayern Munich in the summer if Malaga fail to stay in La Liga.
The Argentina defender left Bayern for Malaga in the January transfer window and signed a contract until the end of the season, with the option of a further two years.
However, Malaga are currently inside the bottom three in the table and Demichelis has been linked with a return to Bayern.
With Louis van Gaal leaving his position as Bayern coach when the campaign is over, Demichelis is open to the idea of moving back to the Allianz Arena.
"I am certain that we will stay up because there is a lot of quality in the team, but if we don't manage it, against all expectations, and the new Bayern coach wants me, then I can certainly imagine a return to Munich," the 30-year-old told the Bild newspaper.
"If we don't stay up, then I would have no problems about coming home."
Demichelis played 174 games for Bayern before being dropped by Van Gaal earlier this season, while Jupp Heynckes will replace the Dutchman as coach.
