Irvine acknowledges USA striker is 'no mug'

Alan Irvine admits Edson Buddle is 'no mug' after Sheffield Wednesday showed an interest in the LA Galaxy striker. Buddle has been tipped to move to British football in the January transfer window and recently underwent a trial at Birmingham City. SPL champions Rangers have also been linked with a bid, while the likes of Everton, Stoke City and Wolves are also rumoured to be keeping tabs on the USA international. The 29-year-old has been a regular scorer for the Galaxy and reports have claimed that the Owls have made contact with his representatives. Irvine appeared to acknowledge an interest in Buddle, but it is expected that the forward will be out of the League One club's reach. "He's been over here, to Rangers and Birmingham, and he's now back in America," said Irvine in the Sheffield Star. "He has scored a lot of goals for LA Galaxy. He's also played in the World Cup for America. He's obviously no mug."
