Rennes coach keen to find replacement for Fanni

Rennes boss Frederic Antonetti admits he is likely to be forced into the January transfer market. The sale of France international full-back Rod Fanni to Marseille has left the Ligue 1 outfit short on defensive options at a crucial stage of the season. Antonetti is keen to address that issue as quickly as possible, with new recruits looking increasingly necessary. Nigeria international Onyekachi Apam would be one player already on the club's books able to cover the loss of Fanni if available, but he remains sidelined at present. It is not expected that he will be back in contention any time soon, so Rennes are prepared to look for other possible options elsewhere.

Unbearable

"It is unbearable. I have had some sleepless nights," Antonetti revealed to L'Equipe on the selection poser he currently faces. "I have made a decision, though, on the possible reinforcement of the defence. "If Apam is able to play, we don't need anybody. If he is not capable, which is what I imagine will happen, we need reinforcements. "There will be no issue with the club officials, they know we need to get a defender. "Also, no-one else will be leaving. I am sure about that."
