Veteran defender set for enforced spell on the sidelines

Dundee United defender Darren Dods is expected to miss five weeks of action as he requires knee surgery. The 35-year-old stopper has been struggling with a cartilage problem for the last two months. A period of rest has not cured the problem and he will now go under the knife and that will rule him out until early in the New Year. Manager Peter Houston has revealed Dods' injury has been lingering around and is now eager to get it resolved. "Darren has had the problem for a while now so it was best he got it sorted out," he confirmed.
