Heracles Almelo have suffered a setback with the news Marko Vejinovic has been sidelined with a persistent stomach complaint.
The midfielder has been plagued by a mysterious intestinal disorder over the past few weeks and will not feature for Heracles on Thursday evening when they travel to lower league side Achilles '29 in the Dutch Cup.
Coach Peter Bosz confirmed he has been unable to include Vejinovic in his selection process for the cup clash after the 20-year-old suffered discomfort in last month's 4-1 Eredivisie defeat to Ajax and had to be substituted.
"Marko suffered stabbing (pains) in his stomach 20 or 30 minutes into the last match he played," Bosz told Voetbal International.
"The symptoms persisted for weeks and have put him out of the selection race."
Bosz has revealed the youngster is undergoing examinations as the medical team tries to establish the root of the complaint.
"Football is pointless (to him)," he added. "A specialist is now trying to find the source of the problems. Only then can we start a treatment program."
