Uncertainty over Polish keeper's chances of staying at Crewe

Crewe boss Dario Gradi has yet to decide whether reserve goalkeeper Bartek Fogler will extend his stay at Gresty Road. The Polish shot-stopper signed a two-month deal at the end of July but has yet to oust Rhys Taylor from the starting line up. Fogler missed out on Crewe's 1-1 draw with Burton on Saturday after travelling home for a family funeral and he was replaced on the bench by teenager Ben Garratt. Gradi admits he is yet to decide whether or not the club will offer the 25-year-old new terms, but holds the player in high regard whatever happens. "Bartek asked to go back home for a family funeral, and as he's not in the side I told him to do what he felt was right," Gradi told The Sentinel. "While we've not got to make a decision yet regarding Bartek's future, he has shown a great attitude while here." Fellow back-up keeper Steve Phillips is nearing a return to fitness and his availability could determine Fogler's chances of a longer stay. "Steve's not ready yet, but I'm expecting him to declare himself fit any time," added Gradi.
