Hibernian boss John Hughes is set to make a decision on whether to offer Valdas Trakys terms this weekend. The Lithuanian frontman has been looking to impress during a trial spell at Easter Road. He is available as a free agent after being released by Greek outfit Panserraikos and impressed during a behind-closed-doors friendly against Dundee United on Tuesday. Hughes is now mulling over his options, but has admitted that a deal will not be in place in time for Saturday's meeting with Inverness even if a contract is put to Trakys. "It's one that's certainly interesting us," Hughes said. "The big fellow's done well. We'll see. He's still got another training session. "He speaks good English and a lot of the Lithuanians at Hearts have said good things about Hibs and the city. "He's come over here and his application and attitude have been spot on."

Commitment

Hughes is in the market for a striker after seeing Anthony Stokes offloaded to Celtic and is also casting an eye over former FC Twente ace Romano Denneboom. The Dutchman is looking for a contract which will run for longer than 12 months, but Hughes has made it clear that he will have to earn such a deal at Hibs. "It's still on the go," he said. "He's looking for a longer-term contract - he's a good lad, good player, but his fitness wasn't up to it. I wouldn't want to make that commitment. "What I want to say is come here and prove yourself and if you prove yourself then we can sit down and maybe do it longer term. "That's where the stumbling block is at the moment." Hughes has also revealed that he will only move for either Trakys or Denneboom, not both. He said: "If we're going to do something it will be one or the other, I don't think we've got the budget or the finances to do the two of them."
