Scunthorpe have taken Shane Redmond on trial following the goalkeeper's departure from Nottm Forest.

Adkins unsure how long he will look at keeper

Scunthorpe United have taken Shane Redmond on trial following the goalkeeper's departure from Nottingham Forest. Redmond failed to secure a new deal at Forest after spending spells out on loan with Burton Albion and Darlington last season. He has been training with Scunthorpe for the past week and appeared in the second half of Saturday's 4-0 friendly win over Bottesford Town. Iron boss Nigel Adkins confirmed the 21-year-old's trial and is currently unsure if he will be pursuing his interest in the keeper. "We had young Shane Redmond in goal in the second half," Adkins told the club's official website. "We had him with us at our training camp in Leicestershire for a couple of days this week. "He's an Irish (Under-21) international and was at Nottingham Forest, but has just been released. "With Sam Slocombe being ill this week, we gave him the chance to train with us and gave him a game. Whether he will be here a bit longer or not we will have to wait and see."
