Forward confident of featuring in opener

South Korea striker Lee Dong-guk is hoping to feature in Saturday's World Cup opener after recovering from a hamstring injury. Pohang Steelers striker Lee, the K-League's top scorer last season, was expected to be unavailable until at least the second Group B encounter against Argentina on 17th June. But the 32-year-old former Middlesbrough forward has recovered more quickly than was predicted after sustaining the injury last month. And Lee is confident he can shine for the Taeguk Warriors if he is granted a run-out this weekend. "I've been exercising normally since arriving in South Africa," said Lee. "My condition has improved quickly from steady rehabilitation. If given the opportunity, I want to leave a good impression in the match with Greece." Lee had looked set for a repeat of his 2006 World Cup woe when a knee injury denied him a spot in the squad for Germany. The striker was also left out of the 2002 line-up by former coach Guus Hiddink after making one substitute appearance in France in 1998.
