Teenage striker handed one-year deal at Brunton Park

Teenage striker Andy Cook has signed a one-year contract to keep him with Carlisle until the summer of 2011. The 19-year-old has spent time on loan with Workington and Barrow over the last two seasons but missed the latter half of the 2009/10 campaign due to a foot problem. Manager Greg Abbott believes the youngster has shown potential, though, and is pleased to have kept him at Brunton Park. He told the club's official website: "Andy can score goals, we have seen that at youth and reserve level, and he has also done it with Workington and Barrow. "He has shown us that he has the potential, and that's why we have offered him the deal in the first place, but the challenge for him now is to take that next step."
