Versatile Aussie on the lookout for new club

Gareth Edds is mulling over his future, with the experienced defender now available as a free agent. The 29-year-old was released by Tranmere at the end of the 2009/10 campaign, with Rovers opting not to extend his contract. The versatile Aussie is not expected to be without a club for long, though, as he boasts considerable experience of the English game. He began his career with Nottingham Forest, before moving on to Swindon in 2002 in order to find regular first-team football. Edds spent just one season with the Robins but did enough to convince Bradford that he was deserving of a deal.

Reputation

Another 12-month stint followed before he was snapped up by ambitious MK Dons. A productive four-year stay with the Dons considerably enhanced his reputation, as he quickly became an integral part of their plans. Tranmere snapped him up when he was made available in 2008 and got two years of solid service out of Edds before deeming him surplus to requirements. He is now on the lookout for a new club once again but, with most clubs expected to do business this summer, he is prepared to bide his time and wait for the right offer to come along.
