Pancrate disappointed not to prolong Newcastle stay

Newcastle winger Fabrice Pancrate has been left 'really disappointed' after failing to secure an extended stay at St James' Park. The 30-year-old signed for Chris Hughton's side on a short-term deal in November after being released by Paris St Germain. He went onto make eight league and cup starts, as well as 11 appearances from the bench, with the undoubted highlight being a spectacular goal in the 2-0 Championship victory over Watford on 5th December. But as Hughton plans for life in the top-flight, he has decided not to take up an option which would have extended the Frenchman's stay by another 12 months.

Best club

Pancrate said: "I am really disappointed not to be a Newcastle player next year. This was the best club that I played for and not to be part of it next year is tough to take. "The fans were the best I have played in front of and it was a great feeling to play in front of them and in front of so many at the away games. "I didn't want to leave the club because I loved it."
